Leonardo Da Vinci Partnership "Computer Assisted Language Learning Concepts in Language Education"
The goal of this Leonardo Da Vinci Partnership was to
analyze how Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) could be introduced successfully
in traditional forms of language education - e.g. language courses in
classrooms. To this end it has to be clarified which level of CALL knowledge is
necessary for the teacher and which level is necessary for the students of a
language course. Also important is the decision, which aspects of CALL are
useful in a specific language education situation. Another important task in
the project was to identify barriers which prevent language teachers and
learners to use CALL elements in language learning. Hereby we focused as well
on disadvantaged learner groups. We discussed and analyzed each of the subjects
and distributed the topics in a manner that each one of our partner
organizations was responsible for the part in which it is the most experienced
and most appropriate. We created a final document in the project, in which we
put down and described our findings and results, as well as exemplified them.
Furthermore we created a project website where everybody interested could get
an insight about everything what happened in the project. The content of the
website was published jointly by all partner organization together and gives an
idea about the methods and types of workshops we used to set up our concepts
and findings. All our project results - including the final document - as well
as agendas and reports of all meetings and evaluation reports are accessible on
this website.
We decided that this project should not be a one time event
for us but the beginning of a long time cooperation between our organizations
in order to improve our adult education activities.
